R.M Hendrix is the project of Boston graphic designer, Michael Hendrix, who has been crafting songs since founding indie rock band, Flannery, in 1998. Though the band disbanded in 2002, their songs have had staying power, and their inclusion on cable TV shows (Flipping Out and Emril's Planet Green). Since then his style has evolved from from nervous brit-pop to textured nugaze.

About this new sound Hendrix says, "To be honest it was always the sound I wanted, but couldn't figure out because I didn't know how to make the textures. Then I bought a Jazzmaster and that was it."

Hendrix's most recent albums are held together by overdriven amps and sci-fi accents. These distinct tonal foundations permitted Hendrix to celebrate influences from krautrock to ambient and still keep a cohesive collection.

The songs come to life with Hendrix's personas (inspired by Bowie) to deliver the stories. This is showcased best on the twin-song center point of the LP, This Dreadful Mess called, "Global Affairs / Crack the Code", which builds a dialogue between the protagonist and his faceless antagonist.
