Richie Kidd grew up listening to jazz, soul, break dance, gospel and The Doors (his father was into jazz, soul, The Doors and funk when his mother was listening to gospel and church music).
All of this inspired him and after getting his first Walkman at an early age and having the headphones permanently welded to his head, he realized how personal music can be – and that feeling never left him.
Every time he produces and works on a new track, he remembers that feeling. Richie Kidd specializes in trick mixing “ That means if it goes over the top of a track I will mix it, creating live remixes. It works 99% of the time!" Richie says.
You can find Richie Kidd 5 Nights a week @ Barasti Dubai, mixing on three and four decks.
Richie has a string of stream remixes or should we say an ocean of remixes every where to download.
He has been the man behind many of the R'n'B and House remix hits in the early transition faze of urban and House Music "when bootleging was the only way to get your music out there" many of which you have danced to and no well without even knowing Richie was behind them.
He has never sought fame or fortune but just simply wanted to give DJ's a transition from other forms of music to House music.
When Richie was younger he was Djing in many wine bars, pub and clubs and says that it was so hard to make the transition to dance music from regular forms of music that was expected from a DJ back then.
Remixing dell a soul tracks and the likes of Cold Play,Sugar Babes and U2 , seemed the only way forward.
Richie started hearing his tracks been played more and more by radio and by other DJ's . It was then that 'His Production names' was on everyones lips.
Looking back Richie says "who new it would take me this far and to so many countries where I have made so many friends and had so many amazing experiences."
"Back then I just wanted to help other DJ's that where in my position. Nothing much has changed, I still really enjoy helping those who love House,Garage and Dance but could never get the transition right. Back then my mixing probably wasn't that good either! Infact I no it was terrible I could barely mix on 2 let alone like now on 4 so when I make my tracks I make them so anyone can mix them with 4 mix points so they are easier to play."
"Actually I still do it to this very day so nothing much has changed" he laughs "I Just got a hell of lot better.”
Now Richie still does the occasional bootleg once a month, but mostly he is concentrating on his own original music.
Getting back in to producing UK, US Garage and Soulful House even dabbling In Jacking House.
“Music is such a powerful thing it makes us happy, it makes us cry it gives us memories and heals old wounds, but most of all it brings us together. I am so glad to be a part of it.”
