James Tate and Trent Randal formed The Noblemen Society in late 2010 after the break up of their former pop/punk band Kids. The two met initially on the set of the television show, Parenthood. They were both extras cast to play skateboarders, and over the course of 14 hours on set, they discovered they had nearly identical ambitions. Within a week they began writing music together, and later that year they released The Crusty EP under the band name, Kids. Shortly after, they decided to go a different direction musically, and stopped writing music under that name.

With a desire to create something much bigger than just a band, they took the knowledge they had acquired from working together in Kids, and began writing music unlike anything they had written before. Drawing influence from both modern and classic movie soundtracks, James and Trent worked tirelessly for over a year to fuse these massive soundscapes with their love of alternative rock music.
