Afrikaans singer Egmond, is a South African singer / song-writer that had his breakthrough with his debut single Gee Voor Jy Groet - quite by accident! After testing the waters with his nearly completed debut album in 2008, Egmond's songs became internet favourites, being picked up by the world famous 24.com's music site, channel24.co.za. However, in 2010, Egmond was asked to submit a video to new TopTV channel, ASTV. He had just completed the recording of the video for Gee Voor Jy Groet. The video was picked up immediately. The rest came as a rather huge surprise.

Egmond's debut album Ongevraagde "Hello" was released in October 2011, and 7 of the 10 tracks on the album, was released as singles, spawning 2 number one's. The track Dis Elektries (feat Yolandi) was #1 for 8 weeks on the Uitsaaines charts, and stayed in the top 10 for 4 months. 4 of his 7 singles were top 10 hits!

Egmond's second album is the aptly titled Ongevraagde "Ritmes", and contains remixes, unreleased tracks and alternative versions of some of the songs from his debut album. The first single is the remix of Ongelooflik, a track that was left off the debut album, but found a new life through the mixing powers of Argentine Arnaldo Suarez. The second single is an altered version of Jy's In My Bloed, and features the vocals of international superstar Glenda Millar from the world-dominating act Clout. The single is accompanied by a fanastic music video.

Egmond is currently busy with the recording of his third album, titled Vuil Wasgoed, set for release late 2013 / early 2014. The second single from the album is the forthcoming dance number DJ.

Egmond was born in Warmbaths, South Africa, and travelled to Germany and the UK after completing school. He is also an avid poet and writer and has already penned his first trilogy called The Stone Heroes. He published his first poetry in the UK in 1999 - not bad for a guy who's first language isn't English. Egmond currently lives in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Read more on Last.fm.
