Vibe Tribe Soundsystem was founded in 1986 by Christoph Winkelhage and B.Vilas Pom, two cologne based DJs to spin their idea of HipHop, Rare Groove and Reggaetunes. In 1992 Vilas asked the musicians Mätes Bendig and Bruno Gebhard as well as the singer Don Abi to join for the recording of the probably first german dancehall single. Later the same team recorded an EP with 4 vocal and four dubtracks on Cultur Dome records.
In 1999 Vilas made another EP with San Francisco based musicians Greg Sancovic, DJ Leaf and DJ BioJeff which did show the melange of House and Dub long time before the hype went on.
