MC TAYA is a nu metal band that mixes aesthetic elements and sounds from Brazilian funk, rap and trap with metal, which she calls FOCK to symbolize the mix of funk + rock. Creating a unique sound fusion that is bringing innovation to the national rock scene, creating a new movement: METAL MANDRAKE. The project is conceived and musically directed by vocalist MC Taya, who before having this format, worked solo in the national rap/trap scene. Today, the band has Spieker on guitars and DJ and Salva on drums, both of whom are musically resulting from the power trio's songs.
In 2019, MC Taya released her first solo song entitled “Preta Patrícia” which became her first hit and became the anthem of black women throughout Brazil, appearing in magazines such as Claudia, Vogue and Toda Teen and being shared by Ludmilla and Preta Gil. Since then, she has performed at the largest urban music label in Brazil, Kondzilla, and on major stages such as the Cena 2k21 Festival and a highly praised performance at the WME (Womans Music Event - the award ceremony for women in Brazilian music). Her career now, as a band, has brought a new artistic identity, taking the risk of bringing all the power of peripheral rhythms such as rap and funk to rock, bringing innovation and spotlight to black and female bodies in rock.
