Embed: Tell me the truth before I have you electrocuted"
Attempting on my person wouldn't be the wise thing
In your thoughts you have fear of my peoples uprisings
The masses rebel your aircraft propels
A cop was shot seven rounds were expelled
Went straight right to hell just for being a fascist
Burned uniforms and piles of human ashes
"Your making this difficult so for being a bastard
I'll have you charged for murderer and resisting arrest"
I never did resist, you're telling 4 smiths
He's swung with the sticks so I made a spinal column twist
One came with a body blow to osaygefo and
He struck my abdominals and fractured his hand
Rebels away through the twigs blasted their wigs
And there you will find a red ocean of pigs
Stay away from my zone where it starts and it ends
That's how we murder policemen upon planet 10

Point Blank Range:
Step into this 8 by 10 im getting nervous
You feel me point blank yo I feel the coppers came to serve us
But now here he comes stepping through the fucking dough
And we dont know who smoked that motherfucking cop at the liquor store
But now you creep through the hood looking for a clue
But your bob head twice with the point blank crew
Running up my bumper for late registration
Taking me to that station for interrogation
And I guess I'm just supposed to just let my tongue run
Asking me shit that would get my mother hung
But where im from up in my hood the shit won't raise
If a brother is constantly tripping that would be his ass
But now you wanna creep up on me and threaten me with time
While you got the billy club pointed at my spine
With things nowadays aint the same like they used to be
Doing time for contempt aint new to me
I never feared going down with my whole damn crew
Only thing that I fear is ever fucking with you
Well I too took a beating from the boys in blue
And all cops watched like a pay per view
And unless you're referring to this incident
We don't know nothing and we ain't seen shit

*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood

Interrogation Lyrics

Boots:
I ain't seen shit, I ain't heard (nothing)
I dont know what happen, I dont speak pig latin
I am a motherfucking true when its us against you, so
Fuck Starski, Hutch and Inspector Clouseau
I was taught, don't rely on pigs for protection
Shit, I try not to even ask 'em for directions
You're in the wrong section of the hood for a crime to be inspected
Got this block infected
You could get ejected, expect it
Ain't no love, if you're the fuzz, I mean, the fizz, I mean
My daddy told me, who you was, I mean the wiz, I mean, you can't win
Ease on down the road, we got a don't-talk-to-cops-code
I won't fold, working for the man with the electric chair
Thats why I never watched roberta and I hated huggie bear
Even scooby doo snitched with that hippy ass van
But me I know the scoop I know the plan
Ask me no questions I tell you no lies
You know the deal the real criminals who dressed in suit and ties
Who holds the wealth you do more damage than health
So for me and my folks we finna just do for self

E-Roc:
I don't know shit about them stolen goods
You want peace motherfucker, raise up out tha hood
I think you should, no one is all I'm gonna say
To get that 411 you better go ask Mary J.
E-Roc do not play when there's pigs in town, clown
Tryin' looking up encyclopedia brown
That's when he frown, asking who's selling herb
I got disturbed, fool, I'm not your mocking bird
The only words coming out of my mouth is a lyrical thang
So please back tha fuck up off my screen, tho
Since I was four you was known to be the enemy
Like rintintin you only give a shit for me
The community took four steps higher
86ing motherfuckas working for the suppliers
So sayonara, before you catch a cap in your ass
No more questions in here, so don't ask
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood

*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*
You want peace motherfucka, raise up out the hood
*get it*

Osagyefo:
Well all the tattletalers and undercover dwellers
They are here to be placed into helicopter propellers
And the narcotic snatched up by the seat of his pants
His face was driven into a hill of army ants
The man had the murder for his benz and his face
I never saw the assailant he vanished through the mists
"you know the faces and names all your stories are polluted
Tell me the truth before I have you electrocuted"
Attempting on my person wouldn't be the wise thing
In your thoughts you have fear of my peoples uprisings
The masses rebel your aircraft propels

The Coup is a political hip hop group based in Oakland, California. It formed as a three-member group in 1992 with rappers (Raymond) Boots Riley and E-Roc along with DJ Pam the Funkstress. E-Roc left on amicable terms after the group's second album, but appears on the track "Breathing Apparatus" on The Coup's third album, Steal This Album. The group is now a duo.

The Coup, part of the sub-genre of political hip hop, is politically radical and Marxist in their music, and align themselves with other radical hip-hop groups like Dead Prez. Their music is characterized by electronic sounds and bass-driven backbeats overlaid by humorous, cynical and sometimes violent lyrics criticizing capitalism, American politics, pimping as a form of patriarchal exploitation, and police brutality, among other things.

The Coup's debut album was 1993's Kill My Landlord. In 1994 they released their second album, Genocide and Juice. After a four-year recording hiatus, the group released the critically acclaimed Steal This Album in 1998, the title of which was reminiscent of lifestylist Abbie Hoffman's Steal this Book. The album featured the stand-out single "Me and Jesus the Pimp in a '79 Granada Last Night". The online magazine Dusted called Steal This Album "the best hip-hop album of the 1990s".

In 2001, The Coup released Party Music to widespread praise. However, in part due to distribution problems, sales of the album were low. The original album cover art depicted group members Pam the Funkstress and Riley standing in front of the twin towers of the World Trade Center as they are destroyed by huge explosions; Riley is pushing the button on a guitar tuner. The cover art was finished in June 2001, and was scheduled to be released just after the September 11, 2001 attacks. In response to the uncanny similarity of the artwork with the Sept. 11 attacks, the album release was held back until alternative cover art could be prepared.

The attention generated to the album's cover art generated some criticism of the group's lyrical content as well, particularly the Party Music track "5 Million Ways to Kill a CEO". The song's rap includes lines like, "You could throw a twenty in a vat of hot oil/When he jump in after it, watch him boil". Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin cited the song in calling The Coup's work a "stomach-turning example of anti-Americanism disguised as highbrow intellectual expression".

On November 15, 2005, Tarus Jackson (AKA Terrance), who had joined the group as a promoter, was fatally shot during a robbery at his home in Oakland.

December 2, 2006 saw another tragedy for The Coup: About two hours following a performance at the San Diego House of Blues, the tour bus in which they were riding drove off the road and flipped over before becoming engulfed in flames. All passengers managed to climb out alive, though some were badly injured. They did, however, lose all of their clothes, computers, cash, identification, house/car keys and cell phones as well as all of their instruments and sound equipment. Since an insurance settlement is potentially a year away, they were forced to cancel the rest of their tour.

Current line-up:

Boots Riley: Lyrics, Vocals, Production, Handclaps, Dancin and Keyboard tweeks.
Pam The Funkstress: Scratches and Poplocking
Silk-E: Vocals and gettin her muthafuckin gig on.
B'nai Rebelfront: Guitar and "not a damn thing else".
J.J. Jungle: Bass, Backflips, and Spins.
Hassan Hurd: Drums and football.
LJ Holoman: Organ and other keys.

Their songs "My Favorite Mutiny" and "Pork & Beef" were featured in the 2007 film Superbad, while "Ridin' The Fence" was featured in EA's 2007 skateboarding video game, Skate. Read more on Last.fm.
