Cristian Chiaburu is a young jazz musician and bass player from Republic of Moldova. With a passion for jazz, he has devoted himself to writing and performing contemporary jazz music. He aspires to share the immense pleasure and influential impact of jazz with others. He creates a unique sound by mixing contemporary jazz with the complex rhythms of Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
He has performed at festivals like Umbria Jazz (Italy), One Jazz Festival (Romania), and Jazz’n’Chisinau (Moldova), and performed with renowned artists and ensembles such as Lăutarii (led by Nicolae Botgros), Vali Boghean, Satoshi, and the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra. He is also composing and developing a new musical style as part of his studies at Berklee College of Music in Valencia - blending 20th-century academic music with Moldovan and Balkan rhythms in a modern jazz context. Cristian’s mission is simple and clear: to challenge what music can be and to inspire others to dream beyond the present, sharing the joy and freedom of music that refuses to conform.
