Brooklyn-based friends Arjun Viswanathan and Kostas Papadopoulos met freshman year of college and collaborated on their first project, Modesta. Their newest project is a band called RHNO, pronounced “rhino". RHNO have proven themselves to have a vast understanding of musical timing, softness and overall, how to create something great. Their sound can only really be described as attuning to the indie-pop/downtempo scene, with intricate instrumentals, vocals that enhance the feel without overpowering or taking away, and a complete sound that is not lacking in any aspect. It is absolutely one that you should all have a dance and a drink to. The play of faded sounds and strong percussive elements create such a nice mix, contrasting and complimenting itself throughout the songs. Alongside this, the lyrics deliver a feel of being young and unsure of where the hell you’re going, but it still makes you want to get on your feet and have a groove. It’s a complex and well thought out production in and of itself and definitely a staple for all your summer playlists.
