Born in São Gonçalo, RJ, Mauricea Amaral Paixão Lessa, an unsophisticated girl, taught in an evangelical home, reveals that she had a happy childhood alongside her family.

At the age of 11, she took her decision of receiving Christ as her Savior, was baptized and as she declared after the baptism, she felt nearer to God and started to understand that she couldn't live without Jesus, which is the reason of her happiness.

When still a child, she had the opportunity of beginning her musical career singing at the church and at the school. Since the beginning she knew that she had a calling, a mission that is to speak about Jesus Christ by means of praise. God called her and she obeyed the Father.

Her first disc was recorded when she was 18 years old. To her it was a moment of great responsibility and substantial fear, for she knew that what she sang would serve to undo the works of the devil and consequently bless many lives.

Besides singing, Mauricea had the opportunity to devote herself to other activities: she is a teacher, is an accounting technician and has already been the chief of a cabinet at the local assembly in Silva Jardim (Rio de Janeiro - Brazil), city where she lived at the time. Currently she works at the ministry Fortaleza da Fé (The Faith Fortress), from which her husband is the president pastor.

When questioned about the difference between the singer and the worshiper, she answers that the singer uses her voice, simply to receive cheering, to have the acceptance of the public while the worshiper magnify the Lord transferring all the glory to Him, with the sole objective of evidencing the grandiosity of the Father.

Regarding the musical style, she tends to the pentecostal movement and has a bias in favor of worship music, however, if the music is strong and touches deep inside, she doesn't get bound to style. One of her influences was the singer Shirley Carvalhaes.

Mauricea has some compositions in which she speaks about battles and victories and the inspiration to them come from the word of God, from her own life history, from testimonies of miracles and conversions.

With relation to her career, she dreams about singing in Africa and India and about taking part in the Grammy. The singer confesses that she needs power to carry out the calling and says: "I'm spouse of a pastor, and to conciliate church, trips and the house isn't easy, but God has been giving me grace. I have traveled around Brazil as much as to other countries – US, French Guiana –, and the Lord has been standing by my side. I've been seeing God healing, saving and freeing, what is our objective".

About her family she declares: “It is a blessing. My husband is the pastor Rogério Gomes, a God’s man, battler, friend, partner that is always beside me in the bad times. I have a daughter, Rebecca that is also a gift from God, my friend and companion. She is the best from God in my life. I thank Him for my daughter”.

About Graça Music, Mauricea comments: “I thank missionary R. R. Soares, who, sensible to the Holy Spirit, opened the doors of this great recording studio, trusted on my calling and conceived me the opportunity of interpreting two of his compositions, which are extremely beautiful and inspirited. The gospel professes that the steps of a good man are recompensed by the Lord. I wish that God recompenses him and shed rich blessings from heavens over his life, his house, his family and his ministry. My praying is that everything his hand touches prosper in the name of Jesus. I’m also grateful for my director, pastor Geromilton, who with great love received me in the Graça Music family and who was the channel by which I could be in this house. Count on me for I’ll give my all dressing the Graça’s t-shirt and united we’ll do the difference with the help of our celestial Father”.

In her debut CD “Tempo de Colher” (Harvesting Time), Mauricea highlights all music because it was a work done by means of praying and fasting. The blessed lyrics are compositions from established authors as: Moisés Cleyton, Adriano Barreto, Denner de Souza, Carlinhos GerD and the big surprise, Missionary R. R. Soares.
