2. The Indie version of Pony bones is Shea Springer, Sam Papke, and Glenn Hanner. Shea and Sam spent their high school years writing and playing music in the area around Easton Maryland, with Sam focusing on drums while Shea sharpened his chops singing and playing guitar. After college, Shea returned to Easton where he was introduced to multi-instrumentalist Glen Hanner by Sam, who had also returned to the area. With his ability to play cello, lead guitar, bass guitar, and synth,Glen turned out to be the perfect complement to the melodic indie style being evolved by Shea and Sam, and Pony Bones was born. Musical influences include the Shins, Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse, Spoon, Fela Kuti, Tony Allen, Django Reinhardt and the Beetles. Both Shea and Glenn are classically trained, and echos of this training can be heard on slower pieces of their music. Pony Bones released their first EP in 2011 and soon began developing a following on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and in Washington DC area, and during 2012, local radio stations began playing several of their tunes, most often spinning "Into the Fire".
