Amathyst are an all girl Metal band from Newcastle, Australia who formed early in 2002.

The band mix alternative influences such as Marilyn Manson, Deftones, Silverchair, Korn and System Of a Down to achieve their unique dark and heavy sound which has been described as 'a sultry sensual sledgehammer.'

Since forming Amathyst have gained a loyal fanbase playing many shows throughout the Newcastle and Sydney area. They won themselves a local bandcomp in 2004 and have supported big name acts such as Karnivool, Spazzys, Testeagles, MM9, Japunga, Cog, The Sleepy Jackson, The Cops and Bodyjar.
