Born in London, raised on the Isle of Wight, developed in Bath, and now spending her time between the three recording, writing, gigging; the constant in the journey of Emmy J Mac has been music. Emmy J Mac has explored electro bands; acoustic duo’s, girl groups, and dabbled in folk, pop, and everything in between since first picking up a microphone.
All of these vast and varied influences can be heard in the soulful vocals, sincere lyrics, and electronic production, and it is a sound that is the culmination of a long and interesting journey for the still very young singer. From deep hip-hop drums, to beautifully fragile lyrics, face twisting bass lines, to punchy guitar riffs; dub-step drops, delicate melodies, it’s all there. It’s easy to see how her journey has affected her music.
Emmy has toured the country, and has played numerous times at Bestival and the Isle of Wight festival. She has supported the likes of Seth Lakeman, and has worked with a host of different artists. Most famously she appeared on BBC’s The Voice UK, impressing three of the four judges in the blind audition phase of the show. Emmy has been writing songs from a very young age, and feels she has at last found the perfect balance of her various influences.
Emmy has recently teamed up with writer and spoken word artist Buddy Carson, and along with producer Ben Sweeney, and Guitarist Chris Newnham, the group have forged a strong, and unique understanding.
