The moment you hear her sing, you are transported to another place. Nicci Canada’s first single on her upcoming CD, poised for release Spring 2011, comes straight from her heart and goes straight to yours. The single is Love and you literally cannot get enough: of love, of Love, of Nicci Canada.

“I was inspired to write Love by what I see taking place around me. Love isn’t a noun, it’s an action. It’s a kind word spoken and sharing with those in need. It’s laughing with friends and dancing with that special someone,” says Nicci. “The truth is, love makes the world go ‘round.”

Nicci’s messages of love, passion and worship create the musical canvases on which she paints her voice. Her smooth, soulful sound effortlessly envelopes you in wraparound warmth, full of subtlety and inspiration. It is simultaneously piercing, and she delivers vocals in a way that pins you softly to the wall, and holds you, transfixed.

Nicci was born into a family of vocalists in Charleston, West Virginia, and she has been surrounded by song since birth. For her, music is second nature – a way she expresses herself – and she never considered pursuing it professionally until she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2001. After she realized the possibilities of pursuing her passion professionally, she worked with Paul Whitley to release a three-song demo in 2005. Since that time she has gained notoriety by singing in diverse venues across the southeast: churches, coffee houses, nightclubs and museums –anywhere where she can perfect her craft as an artist.

In 2010, Nicci teamed up with business mogul Eric Mitchell, who has successfully brokered high-profile deals for a diverse client base, and founded Jevenity Music Entertainment, LLC. Her debut CD, featuring the single Love, will be the first project on the label. She will also release a bonus track, Selah, with the release of Love; both singles were produced by musical genius Doc Sizzo.

Through various genres – jazz, soul and gospel – Nicci communicates with listeners in a way that can only be described as magical. Blessed with a gorgeous vocal instrument, she has a refreshing and unique sound that infuses her music with raw emotions that touch the spirit, soul and mind.
