Nick Williams is a Brighton based songwriter. Having worked with Mark Wallis, the producer of the Smiths, U2 and Travis on his demo material and performed alongside The Magic Numbers, Ben Howard and folk hero Willy Mason. Nick Williams is a frequent headliner for Brighton’s prestigious Cable Club. Williams usually appears backed by James Stathatos (Double Bass), Steve Wattis (Drums) and Dan Hodd (violin). The group entered the recording studio early 2012 to record the follow up to 2010’s Cold Part of Town EP. As well as their own EP expected summer 2012 they are contributing two exclusive tracks to Little Know Records best of Brighton compilation, set for release in June 2012.

With the release of his self produced E.P. Cold Part of Town (May 2010), Williams has painted a picture of confetti filled weddings, late night bars, empty streets, of loss and hope. With a distinct voice, often likened to Anthony and the Johnsons, a male Joni Mitchell or Tom Waits without the 40 a day habit. Williams is tender yet powerful, bruised yet honest. If you like your songwriters with poetic lyrics and crushing melodies, then this is one to watch.

“A falsetto Tom Waits, amazing”
Pete Jones, Radio Reverb

“His voice is unusually high and versatile…contrary to his very flamboyant stage persona he is unafraid to lay himself bare when performing his songs…His lyrics are personal and original”
Daisy Behagg, Live music scene

“Broadly speaking Nick’s music has an ambient feel to it, which is appropriate considering his nostalgic lyrics. His style is heavily supported by his talented piano playing.”
