Coccaro brothers, Carl Almasy on vocals and Rich on guitar, have always had a knack for writing great music. Growing up on a regimen of mostly UK influences, Rich, a self-proclaimed introvert, was introduced to the guitar by a dear friend who suffered a tragic accident that took his life at an early age. Conversely, Carl, with a passion for life and a love of fine wine, always taunted his counterpart by crooning to the tune of 80’s modernists like The Church and Echo And The Bunnymen. The rhythm wonder-duo known as “The Dereks” (Sexton on drums and Cruz on bass) completed the line-up now known as NRWO.

NRWO’s first release, Soho, was a collection of infectious tunes that introduced the group to the eclectic South Florida music scene. Their catchy melodies and foreign sound began turning heads of avid music fans who clamored for something different than the local music scene had to offer... great songs.

Now writing enough music to debut one or two new songs at each show, the group released an EP, Under a Spell, to showcase some of the new material. The CD sold quickly and they soon began collaborating and recording selected tracks from their roster with the likes of Grammy-winning producer, Charles Dye, and Grammy-winning mix enineer, Bob Rosa.

Polite Gothic, released independently in 2004, took the group to a national audience by virtue of college radio. The CD achieved steady rotation during the years of 2005 and 2006.

Released in the fall of 2007, their first UK single, Billy the Kid, was named amongst “Best Singles of 2007” by Billy Sloan at Clyde 1 Radio in Glasgow, Scotland. Kill the Vibe, mixed by London’s legendary Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, Peter Framton), was also named amongst best singles of 2008 by Billy Sloan and made the American College Radio Top 20 charts, including a 3-week #1 position at KSYM in Texas. Both tracks appeared on Hello Mysterious in 2009 which was mastered by Sterling Sound prodigy, Ted Jensen (Keane, Fall Out Boy, Björk). A total of 3 singles received regional radio airplay in the U.K. from Aberdeen, Scotland to Bristol, England.

Armed with 11 new tracks, the band now has all of Europe in their sights as they release their latest collection of work, The Happiness Struggle, due out on March 16, 2010.

NRWO’s cross-over appeal has earned the group dozens of support slots for contemporary international heavyweights such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, One Republic, and John Mayer to cutting-edge modernists like Switchfoot, The Braver and, The Raveonettes.
