Sheldon King defies categorisation. He is both a poet guitarist, penning whimsical sad, funny songs with hints of art rock, Delta blues and funk; and a remarkable technical acoustic guitarist, crafting music that is melodically, harmonically and rhythmically captivating.

Born and raised in the UK, Sheldon’s years of classical training have been supplemented by his prodigious knowledge of and passion for world music. He is a former musical director of Attik Dance and Big State Theatre in the UK and was lead tutor for the Guildhall’s ‘Creative Factory Orchestra’. He has conducted guitar master classes at the WOMAD festival and performed on the Jazz Stage at Glastonbury Festival. In 2006 Sheldon relocated to Australia where he currently directs workshops in improvisation for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Sheldon’s compositions have been broadcast on various television and radio stations including BBC Radio 3 and ABC Classic FM.

Sheldon’s music inspires and surprises the listener with its evocative melodies and unorthodox percussive techniques. It is calmly convincing and completely approachable. From the song-based Earthboy, to the instrumental Ekosticks, recorded following an extended period of travelling in South East Asia and Australia, Sheldon’s music soothes the soul and feeds the mind.
