Tasmanian ukulele faerie, Tilley, is a new artist who calls her own unique style "beach folk". Renowned for her versatile voice, Tilley aims to bring a "little extra" to her work than the standard "singer-songwriter" image.
Born in Tasmania in 1989, she graduated from the UTAS Conservatorium of Music in 2012 with a Bachelor of Music in contemporary voice and Diploma of Music Performance. A self-professed "art junkie", she also pursues other arts including modelling, photography, and writing. She has performed all over the country, and at home in Hobart at many festivals and markets, as well as the iconic Museum of Old and New Art. A member of the ARIA-nominated Southern Gospel Choir since 2006, Tilley has been a featured soloist, and continues to immerse herself in many different musical styles and projects. Her solo work is her current focus, with aims to produce a funk band in the future.
Tilley draws inspiration from her island home's surroundings, as well as from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Erykah Badu, Ani DiFranco, Prince, Amanda Palmer, and many others in many different genres including folk, punk-cabaret, surf, rock, pop, jazz, blues, funk, soul, and hip-hop.
A hugely successful crowdfunding campaign to produce her first album, "Songs From A Cold Island", also made it possible for Tilley to tour the album around Australia. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
