Siro; the brainchild of guitarist / vocalist Troy Redfern was born in 2000, in the West Midlands of the UK.
Troy Redfern met bass player Nick Davies at high school where they jammed in school rock bands together, later to meet up with more focussed and disciplined musical personalities. Together, they embarked on a mission to find the right drummer to complete the line-up. Through a mutual friend they discovered Nick Smith, a powerhouse rock drummer and front man of the band 'Jester'.
During the initial sessions the band soon realised that they had an unprecedented, explosive chemistry. An experience unlike any of them had witnessed from previous bands. In jam sessions songs would fall out complete, their musical references so in tune. The results were inspired, unique songs, sounding fresh and highly melodic, with a hard rock edge.
Joe Gooch, who had also been writing and performing with Troy for several years previous, brought his talents to the line-up. Just two weeks after forming, the band played in and won a battle of the bands competition in Wales, knocking out 60 other bands from all regions of the UK. This proved to themselves and to others, that the synergy they had was something quite extraordinary. It also meant that they had their music played on regional radio stations.
The next stage was for the band to refine and develop their writing style, bringing darker elements from Nick Smith's ethos, Troys highly melodic sensibility and Nick Davies' "Balls out" ethic. Pushing their creativity as writers, they experimented with writing from dream states as inspiration for lyrics and composition.
Joe's interest in the Blues and bold lead guitar style meant that when the opportunity arose to join and front Ten Years After, he gladly accepted. This gives him the chance to show his command over his instrument in a different genre. He returns occasionally to play with Siro, because of his belief in their unique energy and delivery of their live performance.
The band has spent the past year gigging extensively, including shows at Liverpool's Cavern Club and London's Dublin Castle, with great reviews and overwhelming response from the audiences.

Troy's first encounter with rock music was at the age of ten listening to bands such as Van Halen, Queen, and Motley Crue, which had a huge influence on him.
At the same age, he bought his first guitar and began learning his favourite songs. At thirteen, he formed his first band 'Custom Pink' with school friends, playing rock covers. At this time, Troy began listening to a wider variety of styles, such as Hendrix, copious amounts of Frank Zappa, and the classic blues guitar players Howlin' Wolf and Guitar Slim.
At an early age, Troy realised the importance of originality in playing and writing, and set to work on trying to develop a unique style and approach. Phillip Toshio Sudo's book 'Zen Guitar' had a big impact on a mental approach of playing. At eighteen Troy began several years of experimental recording in his small home studio, studying production and recording techniques to help his fluency in the recording process, breaking rules to create new soundscapes.
Troy's unique vocal style and enigmatic guitar playing give Siro the twist they need to set them apart from the rest.

Nick began his musical life playing guitar, covering Dire Straits, Guns n' Roses and Queen songs. Nick joined his first band at school, with Troy, to form 'Custom Pink'.
At this early stage in his musical development the Rock 'n' Roll attitude was paramount. At seventeen Nick discovered his passion for playing the bass and joined forces with professional singer / song-writer, Mick Whitlock (ex- Hawkwind/ Prima Voice), showcasing an extensive set of original material, which was nationally gigged.
After this period, he joined Troy with his experimental recording, which is where he honed his solid, punchy approach to the bass.
Nick's bass playing is the canvas and the backbone of all that is Siro. He parties hard, and is the epitome of all that is Rock 'n Roll.

Nick first began playing the drums at the age of nine, after seeing Roger Taylor playing drums in Queen. He spent his teenage years listening to and learning Metallica, Faith no More, Pearl Jam and Nirvana drum parts.
He joined his first band when he was sixteen, and later joined local Rock Band 'Rubber Love' when he was eighteen as drummer and lead vocalist. This made him establish his own technique of singing and playing drums, which would later help him give strong backing vocals in Siro.
Nick's a big guy with a personality to match, which he projects fluently onto his kit. A natural showman. Nowhere is he more at home than behind his drum kit on stage.
