Steve Marriott (1947-1991) and Ronnie Lane (1946-1997) were the creative forces of the Small Faces. They went their own separate ways after the band's split in 1969, with Marriott forming Humble Pie and Lane co-founding the Faces.

During a visit to Britain in 1981, Marriott became eager to see Ronnie Lane again. By this time Lane, who had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1977, had begun to use a wheelchair. After an emotional meeting, Marriott suggested they gig together. They got together with Jim Leverton, Mick Weaver, Dave Hynes, Zoot Money and Mel Collins to record an album called The Legendary Majik Mijits in 1981, credited to Lane-Marriott, but it was shelved and posthumously released in 2000. The album features songs by Lane and Marriott, though none were co-written. Due to Lane's illness, they were unable to tour and promote the album, which may well be the reason why record labels wouldn't release it at the time.

The album was re-released in 2014 with different artwork, this time entitled Majik Mijits and credited to Marriott & Lane. The preferred and most commonly used tag for this collaboration is now Steve Marriott & Ronnie Lane. Read more on Last.fm.
