Stan Satin began his musical interests at the tender age of two, surprising his mother by whistling original tunes all day. In the 5th grade, Stan took up the alto saxophone and continued playing throughout school in the concert, jazz and marching bands.

Inspired by the DIY attitude of the late seventies new wave, Stan formed the legendary art punk band Vietnam with guitarist Drew Davidson and keyboardist Sue Garner in January 1980. Belting out lead vocals and electronically treated sax lines, Stan lead Vietnam to cult status around the Atlanta area by playing at legendary venues The Agora Ballroom, 688 and the 40 Watt Club in Athens.

The Athens new wave scene was hot at the time with acts like Pylon, Method Actors, R.E.M. and Limbo District, and these bands accepted Vietnam as one of theirs. Vietnam came close to securing a record deal with Columbia, but as luck would have it, there was only bad luck. Unfortunately Vietnam split up in 1982 with no recorded legacy, and Satin went on to join Athen's Method Actors, touring and recording two albums with them during 1982.

Re-locating to New York City's East Village in 1983, Satin began solo recording with original ambient compositions to 4-track cassette. He also played briefly with Jerry Teel (Honeymoon Killers, Chrome Cranks) in Huge Killer Ship before forming another rock quartet called Sayso.

In 1992, Stan moved back to Atlanta and hooked up with former Pillowtexans David Watkins, David Dean, Miami Beach and Bryan Lilje to form a new Vietnam, which subsequently played numerous shows around Atlanta and recorded the original Vietnam songs for a better-late-than-never cd album entitled "Past Away"(2005 Scared Records).

The 21st century also saw Stan begin forays into producing by forming Spherecords and Scared Records, which now hold a fine roster of artists such as So A.D.D., Front Street, Greg Connors, 315, The Subliminator, The Restraints, Bach on a Hook, Volants, clear your mind, as well as Vietnam.
