The Scattertones is a student- run co-ed a cappella group at UCLA. Founded in 2002, they perform regularly on campus as well as in the Los Angeles area. They have been featured on KTLA Morning news, National Public Radio, and Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign. The Scattertones perform a variety of music from pop to jazz, r & b, musical theater, and rock styles using the melodies and rhythm of their own voices and vocal percussionists. They also compete annually at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA’s), as well as UCLA’s prestigious talent competition, Spring Sing. Previous accolades include winning the Prytanean Alumnae Award for Best A Cappella Entry in both ‘08 and ‘09 and Best Choreography, Best Soloist, and Best Arrangement at ICCA’s, making it to the semi-finals in ’07 and ’08. The Scattertones have also recorded and produced 2 albums, ToasterScent and Blink, the latter of which features songs selected for the Best of Collegiate A Cappella 2009 compilation and those winning 2009 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for Best Soloist.
