ColourSurround began as an outlet for two strung-out corporate blokes who desperately needed to find a way to let-off steam in a way that didn't necessarily involve abuse by intoxication.

Colleagues Wally McBride, an avid fan of all things music, and Joey Basque, a fan of all things he could hammer on, would get together once a week to produce sounds that distantly resembled what would eventually become songs. After a year of pure jams with just guitars, drums, and Wally's collection of effects pedals, they decided to recruit a bassist and start calling themselves a proper band.

Enter Jerry Ocol; a friend of a friend Wally once met in a parking garage carrying a crate of LPs, The two bonded over the records, exchanged numbers, saw one another maybe five times in three years, and made little of it. Jerry's mention of playing the bass stuck with Wally, however, and with one phone call and one jam session, ColourSurround were in full-swing.

Favouring melody above all else, ColourSurround can at times produce a jangly sound that would not be out of place in the 60s (or on a Smiths or La's record), and sheer blaring walls of sound at others (a la My Bloody Valentine, Verve, Slowdive). Every song is crafted with a purpose and a meaning in a bare-bones way, and always refined in the jam space where the organic process of playing together help shape them into what they eventually become. The energy in the rehearsal space transcends into the live shows, and the lads have developed a strong reputation for their lively, and always entertaining, live sets.

Now with their debut EP ready for release, and a growing fan base in Vancouver, ColourSurround are ready to capture a wider audience, and bring some sonic bliss back to the clubs and airwaves.
