miscast was a Japanese idol unit formed in 2019 and disbanded in 2022. They debuted on June 7, 2019. The group was conceived as a successor to the previous unit, Mistress/The Mistress, and maintained some of their songs while introducing more electronicore into their sound. The group's sound was produced by notable figures like Sxun, a former guitarist of Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, and u-ya from THREE LIGHTS DOWN KINGS.

miscast's initial lineup consisted of Ichika, MCO, Utage, and Nikuzushi, with Taki joining in September 2019 after Nikuzushi's departure. Known for their dual screaming vocals between MCO and Utage, the group offered a distinctive take on the idol genre, leaning towards idol metal.

On January 23, 2022, the members announced their departure from their agency, HYPER MEDIA NEET, deciding to move forward independently with their manager and relocating to Tokyo. In March 2022, the agency announced that miscast would disband after their final performance on April 30, 2022. Before disbanding, the group released three final tracks titled "GIANT KONG," "WERE WOLF," and "Limitbreak."

After the dissolution of miscast, the members regrouped under a new name, MAZE, marking a continuation of their journey in the idol and rock music scene with a refreshed identity and independent management.
