There are five bands called VHS; a belgian duo, a czech punk rock band, a rapper, a punk rock band from Seattle, and a death/thrash band from Ontario.

1) VHS is a belgian duo formed during november 2008 and mixing electro, disco punk and rock. Is is composed by Jass (guitars, keyboard) and Sid (vocals, keyboard, drum programming), both former members of The Cambodia Whores, Amineptine and April Flora.

2) Kapela VHS vznikla na popud nadšení dvou členů, Milana Rychtra (Ijáka) a Petra Nevečeřela, kteří již od podzimu minulého roku ani nachvíli nepřestali počítat s tím, že prostě kapela bude. Třetí člen Adam Vitásek (Vitas), byl nepříleš optimistický a své dva aktivnější kamarády bral s rezervou.

Měsíce plynuly, členové si opatřili nástroje, aktivisti Iják se Sváčou sehnali zkušebnu a vida, první zkouška byla na světě 17.května 2005 za podpory skalních fanoušků (samozřejmě nešich nejbližších kamarádů).

Ve složení Vitas ( kytara ) , Iják ( basa ) a Sváča ( bicí ) sháněli zpěváka a nějaké jméno. Zpěváka nesehnali, tak se toho chopil Vitas, který také skládá hitovky této kapely. Jméno VHS ( Volné hudební sdružení ) vymyslel také on a po schválení zbylými členy měla kapela oficiální jméno.

VHS hrálo na zkouškách jak o život za stálé podpory místních fans ( dá se říct, že vůdcem a vůbec prvním byl Dejv ), na zkoušky se chodilo bavit kytarou více a více lidí, což VHS samozřejmě těšilo, ale vedení naší školy (HEHE) stejné nadšení nesdílelo. Podle nešich milých vůdců ve světě studentském, jsme pouze feťáci a alkoholici a "davy" mladých lidí, co nás znají a poslouchají, chodí samozřejmě fetovat a chlastat s námi ( blbejma pankáčema ).

5) VHS (Violent Homicidal Slasher) is a horror movie themed death/thrash band from Ontario.

During the winter of 2013, in his dusty, cobweb filled basement in Reno, NV Jawshua Dean Hageman spent his time with his 8-track writing and recording what would later be released as the first VHS tape, “Vultures & Hungry Spirits.”These songs sat dormant for some time while he relocated to the Pacific Northwest to drum for Criminal Code. Moving to the Northwest reunited him with long-time friend and music collaborator, Chris Costalupes who had moved from Reno to Seattle four years prior to play bass for Big Eyes. In the summer of 2014, the two spent a week locked in a basement writing and recording the second VHS album, “Art Decay, Everything Looks Boring.” After releasing both albums on cassette via their own imprint Casino Trash Records, they set out to materialize VHS into a live form. They drafted long-time friend and collaborator Morgan Travis, who is also a Northwest transplant from Reno, on guitar. With the three of them in place all that was left was a drummer. After many scheduling issues and overlapping tours, they finally landed Gavin Tiemeyer better know as the hard-hitting drummer for Jason Clackley and The Exquisites. Once finally together they were up and running in no time, and on January 27th they played their first show in Seattle. Since then have been gaining more and more momentum. Their live show is sharp and they thrive in the studio. Their upcoming 7” titled “Choking On The Fruit” is the first record made as a full band. VHS’s sound has a diverse range and they have been compared to such bands as The Wipers, Lost Sounds, and The Melvins.
