It would be fair to say Tim Stopulos’ (b.1983) music career began at the ripe age of 6 when he embarked on 15 years of formal piano training lasting until graduation from Wake Forest University in May of 2006. Inspired by Dave Matthews, he added the guitar to his repertoire in high school and proceeded with the help of classmates to cover Dave’s songs at various local hot spots, like the annual Spaghetti Supper, the ever popular talent shows, and of course the plethora of festive graduation parties.

Ben Folds and John Mayer provided the inspiration for his song writing endeavors at the age of 16, primary solo guitar works, which evolved as he collaborated with friend and bass player Bill McGibony in college to release his first acoustic demo in early 2005. The addition of electric guitar and drums rounded out his new band curiously named Fourth. They played the local scene, including the campus Battle of the Bands, coffee houses, and an occasional frat party. Composing for the piano came much easier at this time and new influences were found in the likes of Radiohead, Coldplay, Jeff Buckley and Maroon 5 and classical composers such as Beethoven and Chopin.

Following graduation, Tim returned to the Midwest and convinced fellow Fourth members to join him there for a summer of writing, playing gigs, and hanging out under the guise of steady employment. As some of the band members were still in pursuit of a diploma, they returned over Christmas holiday and laid down the tracks for what would be the second album, "The Long Drive Home" (available at timstopulos.com). The recording/mixing process continued through early 2007 at the First Church of Groove in Blue Grass, Iowa, and was released at a concert on August 3rd at the Redstone Room in Davenport.

Fast forwarding to the present, Tim is currently in a frenzy of creative activity and has completed enough new material to record another album, which he hopes to do soon. Tim is moving to Chicago in pursuit of his music making career, one which by most accounts appears to be very promising.
