“Everywhere I travel whether it’s London, Canada, or Chicago there’s
somebody out there who’s familiar with me [and] appreciates my music.
That’s the greatest feeling in the world.” -Damien Satele aka Damey

Damey may still be unfamiliar to many but at the age of 22 he is already viewed as a seasoned artist in the Bay Area and has fans in all regions. He is Primarily known as 1/4 of the Diligentz, A rap group he formed with his brother Jay Ant and their two close friends Frank (Star/AkaFrank) and Phil(Prank), at the age of 14.

Although The Diligentz recorded 6 mixtapes between the years 2003 and 2009 they are most recognized for the song “Punk Rock” which featured The Pack. Not only was that song
featured as a top download for Feb 2007 on Spin Magazine’s website, it also received national radio play and served as a spring board for a local “Punk Rock Movement” which served as a trendsetter for LA’s “Jerk Movement” and still echoes in groups like The Rejectz.

On the strength of their “Fresh Impressions” mixtape series which included well known songs such as “Stroke Ya Body”, “Way Cooler” and “Hella Tight”, internet (Myspace, You Tube, blogs) and word of mouth The Diligentz have built and still maintain a strong fan base across the
country and were able to tour with diverse artists such as The Cataracts and Erk Tha Jerk. The special thing about The Diligentz lies in the fact that they are equally acknowledged and embraced as solo artists.

“Everyone in the Dliigentz had their own sound and character. We’re
like Voltrons when we come together we mesh very well in our music.”
Says Damey, who believes what sets himself aside from his group
members is the soulful approach he takes when creating his music.

“It's a reflection of myself, my moods, my creative cycle, or even if
it's a story of my life or a certain feeling. I express my reflections
through sounds.”

Damey’s musical reflections started at the tender age of 6 while, emulating the moves and vocals of a young Michael Jackson but it took something more tragic to make him decide that music was his passion.
“What made me want to do music was when Tupac died. It’s crazy I was 8
years-old understanding everything he was going through so since ’96 I
wanted to build a dying legacy.”

The foundation of that legacy started with the release of his first solo mixtape “Curtain Call”(2009) which featured party songs like “Waterslide” as well as the mellow “Burgundy
Skies”. His follow up “Creepy Nights EP” was released in the 2nd quarter of 2010 and has generated plenty of buzz and thousands of downloads thanks to fun and laidback songs like fan favorite “Take Over The Wheel” and the title track “Creepy Nights”, which despite its
smooth electro tempo really tells the story of a dysfunctional relationship.

Damey is also getting regular rotation on national radio stations with his newest song “StoreRun”, which is featured on the“Clap City 2” compilation, thanks to E-quests from fans and supporters. The song has a throwback feel that is a departure from Damey’s usual melodic style but that sound is resonating with listeners in this robotic musical climate.

“I’m bringing back the fun and soul into music. That exact feeling you
have when you’re listening to your favorite track I wanna incorporate
that feeling back into music. People relate to it more”

Damey is a growing artist and songwriter whose current influences include Ceelo
Green, Erk tha Jerk, Ryan Leslie, Goapele , Mos Def, Common, Netta Brielle among others. However he also wants to influence people in his own way through music while other rappers in his peer set are overly concerned with their image, money and models Damey has his mind set on a deeper type of success.

“I want to change the world for the better. Bring enlightenment to
everyone whether it's by words or feelings. We were made on this earth
for several reasons, my agenda is [to be] a leader and [provide] the
resources and structure for myself and others around me for the
greater good.”

Damey is loved and supported by many because he brings
love, support and humility to his music, a rare attribute in these
times.
