Carolin has established a very personal musical style thanks to the variety of his experiences over the years...

He began playing keyboards in high school with a rock band... very far from from his parent's musical background. His mother, a violinist, teaches at the Paris National Music Academy and his father, a composer, has won the Grand Prix de Rome. However, playing with this band gave Carolin the incentive to carry on with higher musical endeavors.

From then on, he was determined to really make it his business to pursue a musical career of his own, no matter the circumstances. Hence his studies at the Ecole Normale de Musique, before attending the Berkelee School of Music in Boston with his colleague Philippe Eidel, with whom he will later on co-produce the group Indochine's first album.
They both took off for Boston and were totally overwhelmed with the competitive edge of the school's atmosphere.

A year later, he returned to France and was already arranging songs for Diane Tell's "Savoir" album in 84, Veronique Sanson's album, including the hit track “Le Temps est Assassin” not forgetting his collaborations with Serge Gainsbourg on both Jacques Dutronc's hit single “Merde in France” and Isabelle Adjani's first very successful musical outing.

During this period, Carolin came accross director Frederic Lepage who asked him to compose original tracks for his animal documentaries. These true "adventure films" as Carolin would put it, gave Carolin the opportunity to really get into a more intimate style of composing, lyrical, even poetical. Ten or so films later are proof enough that Frederic and Carolin have gotten along famously over the years.

Then in 1989, the well-known television producer Gerard Louvin called Carolin to arrange and orchestrate the idents to some of the most successful tv programmes on french tv such as “Sacrée Soirée”, “Sans Aucun Doute”, “Enquête de Vérité”, “Les Années Tube”, “Les 7 d’Or”, “Miss France” etc.

At the same time, the famous avant-garde russian choreographer Boris Eifman contacted him to compose the original score for his ballet titled "Illusions" performed by the Saint Petersbourg Ballet Company and presented in 1992 in both Paris and Saint Petersbourg.

But Carolin's career can not be fully explained without a description of the work he has been doing for over one hundred and fifty films with various television film producers & directors such as Jean-Daniel Verhæghe including films such as “Madame De”, “Sans Famille” or “Les Steenfort” and Marc Rivière's “Le Miroir d’Alice” or “Toute la Ville en Parle” to name a few.
He has more recently composed the very popular series directed by Pierre Sissier "Louis La Brocante" and the blockbuster "Plus Belle La Vie" for which he is also musical director.
Carolin also collaborated with Michel Legrand on two feature films : Claude Lelouch's “Les Uns et les Autres” and Elie Chouraqui's “Paroles et Musique”. He has also composed original soundtracks of his own for Philippe Le Gay's "L'Année Juliette" starring Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Fabrice Luchini, Pierre-Henri Salfati's “Zadoc Ou Le Bonheur” starring Tcheky Karyo and Liane Foly or Didier Goldschmidt's film “Alissa” with Laurence Cote and Yvan Attal and Nils Tavernier's first feature film "Aurore".
At the same time Carolin wrote special orchestral arrangements for Serge Lama's repertoire performed at the Olympia in 1998 and also songs and special tracks for the very successful comedian Pierre Palmade's shows “Passez me voir à l’occasion" and his duo with Michele Laroque in “Ils s’aiment”.

Because of his experience with soundtracks written for so many films and documentaries, he was able to take on the very demanding “Romeo & Juliette” musical project with Gerard Presgurvic.

The two and a half year collaboration has resulted in a phenomenal success with over five million copies sold and an audience of more than 720 000 people to date, including tours in Canada, Belgium, Spain, Japan, Russia etc... his career has reached a worldwide scale in more ways than one.

Carolin is now used to recording with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra in Hungary for some of the more sophisticated productions thanks to his team and specially Viviane Willaume, his assistant without whom he claims, "none of this could be possible".

Currently, Carolin's music can be heard on films such as "Untamed Africa" shown on televisions around the world.

Carolin so often says that composing is "searching for those magical notes" which he continues to seek with an unwavering love for music...plus now a certain degree of maturity crafted by years of experience and hard work.
