DAVE BASEK

www.junkbeats.com

The main man behind Junkbeats and its various side projects. He's been involved in the electronic music scene for over a decade and has a string of releases and remixes under his belt. In 2002 he co-produced with H-Foundation to complete their debut album, which was released on Soma. A major passion has always been the live performance of electronic music, which he continues to pursue with various projects including 20for7 and Tza Dynasty.

**(Bio)**
Having been a quiet achiever in the Australian scene for well over a decade Basek has now stepped out with the unique junkbeats sound. Drawing from extensive experience with both live performance and DJing, Basek’s music is rapidly gaining momentum well beyond Australia’s shores with both his solo and co-produced tunes gaining solid support from a wide variety of major players in the industry including James Zabelia, Hernan Cettaneo, Phil Smart, Halo and Hipp-e. Going beyond the usual list of DJ supports around the country Basek not only performs alongside his international peers but actively produces and remix’s for a plethora of international artists including Green Velvet, Fred Everything, Alexkid, Kriece and Labels like Ministry of Sound, Future Classic, Chocoflash, and Soma.
2007 has been a busy year for junkbeats and Dave Basek, already his production of 20for7 ‘ripple effect’ was voted dance track of the year in the French independent music awards as well as Tza Dynasty receiving play on JJJ via the unearthed feature. Across the digital dance market Basek’s original compositions and collaborations have seen him as a regular feature on both the DJ download and Beatport charts. This year has also seen the launch for the digital branch of the junkbeats label and the recent agreement with amphibian music has doubled the catalog of music on their catalog.
Working closely with fellow Australian producers including Ed Function, Phil Smart, Jimi polar and Kriece Basek’s junkbeats productions have been remixed by Trentemoller, Swag, Hipp-e and Joey Youngman and he has co-production credits on the H-Foundations debut album released on Soma in 2002. A firm believer in the journey set both Basek’s live and DJ sets draw from experience performing in the USA and around Australia playing a variety of niche house styles to a wide variety of audiences. Of course staying abroad of the latest technologies for DJ and live performance has seen Basek’s more recent moves towards amalgamating the two enabling him to perform grooved out remix’s of his own material on the fly along with released material.
