That Saturday is a modern rock band coming out of Chicago poised to make some waves on the alternative scene. Their recent album, Signs of Warfare, has been winning listeners left and right, garnering endorsements from WHPK and RadioNow 24-7 before its wide release.
Currently gearing up for regional touring behind the imminent release of Signs of Warfare, That Saturday has been a flurry of activity, recently appearing on the Ben James Show, playing shows at the Double Door and Cubby Bear in Chicago, and mobilizing their fan base in grass roots efforts to build a buzz around this dynamic recording. Drawing on their background in technology and audio recording, they have also launched a podcast, highlighting live versions of their new arsenal of songs, presenting videos, and most recently, a sneak peak of their lead off single from the new album, "One For the Liars."
Growing out of High School friendships, That Saturday has been performing since 2000. Originally consisting of singer and lyricist Marlon Aguilar and Jimmy Bellavia, they got their start playing acoustic covers of their favorite songs in coffeehouses near their childhood home of Hanover Park, IL. As time marched on, they decided to develop their band, and through a chance meeting in Government class, added drummer Noel Curran. Their passion for music ignited, they spent the remainder of their High School years developing the sound and feel that we now know as That Saturday.
Once graduated from High School, they continued to play regionally, based out of Western Illinois University, and adding bassist Jon Escondo. This was a fertile environment for them to develop their sound, as the band focused not only on their creative process, but also on their technical prowess, collecting degrees in recording arts, and going on to graduate from the Conservatory of Recording Arts. This allowed them to workshop their songs a lot more, without having to worry about the cost of studio time. This expertise has served them well, allowing them to recognize the studios and engineers they want to work with.
Having spent almost two years writing and perfecting this album, That Saturday is positioned to make this album the first step in their quest to make deeper connections with their fans. Marlon has already begun writing for the next album, and their devoted street team is ready to make sure that Chicago knows That Saturday and their unique brand of alternative rock is here and ready to roll.
