Kay-B is a Pop-R&B/Soul singer ( live performance with band formed of multicultural background musicians, a.k.a Kay-B's Band), born in the Chilean costal city of Valparaiso, meaning the paradise valley, which is considered the cultural and artistic center of Chile; an environment that helped foster her interest in the arts, particularly in music. A self-taught musician, she is: Author, Composer & Interpreter of all her songs with the ability to express herself fluently in English, Spanish & French which gives her a powerful asset to reach a worldwide market; ingredients that make her unique as an artist.
Daughter of Chilean parents, she quickly developed her artistic talents at a young age being heavily influenced by the music of the 70's & 80's. The influence of pop icons such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and the old school soul music of Marvin Gaye played a major role in developing her musical style that is described as Pop-R&B with a touch of soul.
Since 2008, Kay-B and her band have been playing together in several venues and festivals, like "La Fête de la Musique de Montreal", a wonderful experience with people gathered around the Place Jacques Cartier, heart of Old Montreal area, and an opportunity to delight new fans.
Working on her upcoming album for 2010, as well as developing a unique live sound, representing the new school of the Montreal R&B scene, which is a nice blend of electronic and organic sounds, trying to rescue, at the same time, the groovy essence of some well-known exponents of the classic American Soul, not forgetting the Latin influences that are part of her personality as citizen of the world (as she describes herself), rhythms like Bossa Nova, as well as a little touch of the caribbean spirit; the Cuban Son.
