Omasta is a contemporary jazz ensemble from Kraków, Poland, known for blending traditional jazz with hip-hop, jazz-funk, and street culture influences. Formed over several years and officially debuting in February 2024 with a tribute concert to producer J Dilla, the quintet quickly gained attention for its rich, groove-oriented sound featuring heavy drums, deep bass, melodic horns, piano, and wind instruments.

The band’s name comes from a regional Kraków dialect word meaning “fat added to food for flavor,” a metaphor for their textured, flavorful music.

Omasta has performed extensively across Poland and Europe, including venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and The Jazz Café in London, Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, and the Gent Jazz Festival, and has shared stages with acts like Slum Village, Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements), Tenderlonious, and Polish jazz veteran Leszek Żądło.

Their debut album, Jazz Report from the Hood, a collective portrait of urban life, was released in October 2025 on Astigmatic Records.
