Dan P. and the Bricks is a 10 piece ska band from Santa Cruz, CA, featuring members of MU330 and legendary Santa Cruz ska/rockers Slow Gherkin. With 5 horns, drums, organ, two guitars, and upright bass, the sound is huge, the energy is high, and the fun is BIG!!!
Formed in February of 2009, the focus and drive of the band is to A) have fun and B) play locally to raise money for local and internationally reaching charities. Fund raisers so far have included a benefit concert for The Leukemia and Lymphoma society, Hospice of Santa Cruz County, and The Surf City AIDS Ride benefiting The Santa Cruz AIDS Project. The Bricks have also worked with Action Santa Cruz to raise money for Haitian earthquake relief. Other benefit concerts have included fundraisers for Crohn''s & Colitis Foundation of America, Doctors without Borders, and street-show benefits for Chilean earthquake relief.
The Bricks' front man, Dan P. is an internationally known ska punk hero. He got his start in the legendary ska punk band MU330 when the band first started playing shows in 1988. Dan's songs have been used in numerous TV shows and movies, including Nip Tuck, The Brendan Leonard Show, and the German films "Pas De Deux" and "Dopplepack." An MU330 song "Christmas Merry Christmas" was also used in the movie "Unaccompanied Minors."
With MU330, he has played over 1800 shows all around the world, everywhere from the United States (48 states, including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada, Mexico, all over the UK, Europe, Russia, Japan, and even Korea.
In addition to playing in the bay area with the Bricks, and touring with MU330, Dan continues to record and tour supporting his solo work as well, racking up tours all over the US, Canada, Japan, UK and Europe with just his guitar and boxes of CDs. for more info: http://www.danpotthast.com/
