Scott Shannon, growing up in Miami, Florida, worked as a professional actor from age 16 to 32. Eventually having a family to support, he returned to school and then pursued a career as a computer programmer and Information Systems Manager for the next seven years. Once again he returned to school and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. For the next fifteen years he worked as a therapist and social service administrator in Miami and San Francisco. Following the death of his wife of 28 years in 2000, he retired to the mountains of western North Carolina.

He began composing symphonic, New Age, and World music in 2001 and produced eleven albums in the next three years. His music is now distributed on MP3 download sites internationally.

He has recently started a website called sasMusicAndMore.com as an opportunity to help other new composers, musicians, and singer-songwriters to gain more exposure for their music (and his own music, too!) Artists of all genres may obtain a free web page on the site with streaming music, their videos (if any), and links for visitors to buy their music.
