Alexier Soto-Carlo Silva, (born March 26, 1993 in Río Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico) better known by his stage name Yung GreenEyez is a Puerto Rican independent rapper, singer, songwriter and recording engineer based out of Hartford, Connecticut and New York City, formerly signed to Philadelphia based indie labels Catapult Records and Blazin’ Hot Entertainment.

Soto-Carlo recorded his first song, "Rican Papi" in 2012, which samples “Regis Chillbin (Machinedrum Remix)” by EPROM and Machinedrum and “Aquababe” by Azealia Banks respectively. The song was self-released under the name of ‘GreenEyez’ on his SoundCloud account on October 27, 2012. "Rican Papi" was largely an introduction of the artist’s ability to rap an entire song and able to express his sexuality and character; which later gained organic recognition overtime.

Subsequently, he self-released his second track, "Van Vogue” on February 5, 2013, which also samples “Van Vogue” by both Azealia Banks and Machinedrum. The track went viral instantly on social media due to its electro-house rhythm and as of December 2018, received 105,000 plays on SoundCloud. Soto-Carlo then released ”Mary Jane (420)” on April 20, 2014, which was a point-of-view freestyle rap song about consuming cannabis as a recreational activity with friends and foes. The song is produced by Mux Mool and Machinedrum, which Soto-Carlo came across the song samples from Machinedrum’s Mary Anne Hobbs radio mix at BBC Radio 6 Music via SoundCloud.

In 2014, Soto-Carlo continued to release singles such as “RAVE”, a lyrical experimental song about self-sufficiency, rejecting men in the club and catching interest in one particular person which featured Hartford, CT based rapper DDomino Geronimo (no longer available for streaming), “Jam Time Plan”, a psychedelic experimental rap freestyle about neuro-technology and mind control (no longer available for streaming), “STRANGER”, a Jhené Aiko “Stranger” inspired from her Sailing Soul(s) Mixtape in 2011 that explores emotions of breaking up with a partner and becoming strangers; also featured fellow Hartford, CT based rappers DDomino Geronimo and Guddii (not available for streaming) and “Huyshope Bug’n”, a gritty and controversial diss track to his local neighborhood block where he lived in Hartford, Connecticut until relocating his base to New York City in 2015 and changing his moniker to ‘Yung GreenEyez’ in 2018.

He released his long awaited debut studio EP, ‘Maruja’ on August 7, 2020 under Yung Greeneyez Music and distribution by CD Baby, Inc. Soto-Carlo claims the name ‘Maruja’ (pron: Mah•Roo•Ha) is a nickname given to him by his gay best friends in his neighborhood in Hartford, where he experienced bullying and rejection by fellow members of the local LGBTQ+ community for his style and character. He also began performing live at local open mic venues, bars, invited house parties and LGBTQ+ ballroom balls around New York City.

Soto-Carlo has released several exclusive studio demos via SoundCloud and YouTube under ‘Yung GreenEyez Portal’ during the COVID-19 worldwide lockdown. The release of the studio demos were archives of previously recorded tracks over the years in his recording arts career showcasing each track directly to his listeners in order to maintain social presence online. Soto-Carlo claims the name ‘Yung GreenEyez’ is a vibe, resilience and a stance at staying young and having fun in the midst of all adversities. He released a few singles with collaborations after 2020 named “Too Bad” with Genuwine Beauty, “A$$” with Tsunamii Dee and featuring DJ Swanny River, “Ina Di Ghetto”, a Tropical House based Tri-lingual remix of English, Spanish and Portuguese lyrics to “In Da Ghetto” by J. Balvin & Skrillex; which instantly went viral on TikTok by fellow LGBTQ+ ballroom and drag queen performers and platform content creators and “Pump” with Prynce Pedro respectively.

Soto-Carlo has recently been featured in two other artists songs such as “Acid Rain” by Prince Cat-Eyez and featuring Awkword-O from ‘The Ill Da Da” album. The song is old-school rap cypher inspired which gave the opportunity for the rapper to keep proving to listeners that he can rap and deliver crispy clear bars. Another feature song is “Tremendo Remix” by Rastafaro which is more Latin Drill based. Rastafaro delivers Spanish bars and Yung GreenEyez delivers 8 bars in English at the bridge of the song. Soto-Carlo founded his recording studio, Yung Gr8 Studios in 2022 and began recording himself as well as records aspiring artists in the north east region of the United States. Read more on Last.fm.
