DAVE KEMP GROUP - The Dave Kemp Group is a new band formed as a vehicle for exploratory compositions, improvisations and arrangements. Conceived by vibist and composer Dave Kemp in early 2008 as a group capable of traversing intricately woven material akin to contemporary chamber music but still reliant on the spontaneous improvisation of contemporary jazz and fusion music. The group features Dave Kemp on Amplified/Midi Vibraphone & other keyboard percussion, Trumpet, Electric Guitar, Electric Bass and Drums making extensive use of digital effects and sound manipulation to create a hyper-real musical experience. A large body of work has been developed for this group by Dave Kemp out of seemingly disparate influences such as North Indian rhythm cycles, electronic sound manipulation, third stream compositional approaches and free improvisation. Kemp has combined these idioms into a cohesive whole through a synthesis of styles, concepts and considered implementation to create an eclectic sound full of interest and new musical discovery.
