The Man, The Myth...

Hearfield survived the late Jurassic Period with few friends. In the cold of the Ice Age he kept warm by strumming the guitar, and soon set up his plan to musically conquer the world.

Smashing onto the South African rock seen in the early 70's, Hearfield used his guile and flair to simultaneously work the gig circuit, take professional photographs, session for the odd studio and sack bass players. Having usurped the African continent's selection of bassists, Iain Hearfield moved over to England, and until now has never looked back.

The launch of the highly regarded 'RED' album signals the beginning of yet another exciting chapter in the life of Hearfield - The Man, The Myth, so here is an opportunity to look at all that has gone before.

Hearfield has, in the last few years, put together some varied and interesting material. Collaborating lyrically with Duncan Mangham and utilising the bass playing prowess of Dave Samuel, the two CDs show a diverse selection of music.

'I Found It In Howard's Garage' weaves layered sonic structures with intriguing narrative vocals, leading the listener through the dark corridors of society's underbelly - bank robbery and murder are just two of the themes on offer. The darkness of the lyrics are balanced by the more anthemic and lighthearted tunes such as 'Complicated'.

Taking the darker side a step further, it was almost inevitable that a lowdown dirty blues album would emerge. Combine cracking guitar lines with some earthy blues rhythms and you have 'RED', the highly regarded second album.
