The Supreme Mystic and guidance through faith must have made the creation of this musical endeavor possible, bringing two (2) extremely talented and very emotionally indifferent individuals together, on a very special and enchanted piece of Rock, namely St. Vincent & the Grenadines... forming what is today known as the Ragga-Soca Duo; ..Troots ..n.. Ice. It was always a dream for Gary"Troots"Young,to dive into music and that's what he tried for 12 years in the Hip Hop/R&B/Reggae world of New York City! After traveling home to SVG..(On numerous occasions)Troots saw the rising mystics on his native isle and longed to return home to push the local styles and maybe re-invent a few old ones..!! In 2002,Troots did just that, hooking up with child-hood friend and comrade , Mark Cyrus, who also returned home to set up Master Room Studios. The two stayed in touch over the years and always spoke of doing a song whenever they linked-up again. The time had come..and the song was done.."Senorita" was produced and would soon become the song that would catapult "Troots n'Ice and Master room studios into the spotlight and straight to the top!! The track would not be complete however ..until the injection of Levar"Ice"Fraser...who was no stranger to music or the stage!! Being bred in the early days by "Fafa and Kurty"...SVG's first dancehall artistes. Ice ..then known as "Ringo Kid", @ the age of nine years old, took the mic @ Victoria Park, during a charity concert, to raise funds for the Jamaican victims of hurricane Gilbert!! He was the highlight of the show and over the years continued to develop his talent waiting for the right song to showcase his skills. After laying down the melody for "senorita"..something was missing..so Troots and the groups secret weapon Jason"Kage"Marshal.. gave Ice a call and that was the making of the Ragga-Soca Duo--- Troots n'Ice !! The single was, upon release, thrown into the number 1(one) position on most of the FM stations, on the little rock of many rhythms(SVG)- St. Vincent & the Grenadines; it also got the attention of VP Records, who signed the single to their 2002 soca compilation overseas. At that time, the single was changing the outlook of the entire music industry in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, following close on the heels of Kevin Lyttles "Turn me on"!! The release of the follow-up single "Mi Amor" one year later, confirmed to the newly captured fans, that "Tn'I"(Troots n'Ice)...were no "one hit wonders" and they were here to stay... and again caught the attention of VP records , making them the first Vincentian Artistes, to have their first two releases signed to a major label !! 2004 saw the versatility of ..Troots ..n.. Ice, with the release of a single called ..Cuties.., a song basically saying ...we ain't goin no session..unless the Ladies are present.. still a party favorite but, living in the shadows of the first two mega-hits. Then, in 2005,they again led the way with two releases "Closer" from Master room and "The One" produced by Adrian Bailey for "Sky Studios"..out of which came "Turn me on" !! With five singles under their belts..TnI are now focusing on doing an Album. The fans are asking for it and so are the Dj's!! With that in mind,2006 pushed the group to demonstrate their individual strengths by dropping two mind-blowing dance tracks on the same Master room riddim !! Two (2) separate singles, ..Don..t.. be Shy.. by ..Troots.. and ..Wuk it Up.. by .. Ice.. along with a reggaeton single "2nite is your nite" produced by Krystal Klear studios, were released just before the Carnival Season in St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The Ragga-Soca Duo are now trying to get, the business end of their talent harnessed and ready for the outside market as they have shown the Caribbean people ,all over the world that they are Original and one of a kind !! They are currently in various studios, including their own--- "Culchah Cannon Studio", completing songs for a soon to be announced release date for the album and are shooting videos for "Senorita/Mi amor" and "Don't be Shy/Wuk it up" as MTV's Tempo is now the perfect showplace for talent like --------------------- TROOTS n' ICE...............!!!
