Rod Gear is a multi instrumentalist with a mostly jazz orientated background. Having worked in and around the Melbourne Jazz scene providing some lovely wallpaper music he scrambled to the top of one of Melbourne’s tallest buildings one day and saw another way. Not exactly like that but he did have an interruption to his egocentric life through a visitation from the creator of the atoms and the galaxies that changed his life course dramatically. This new direction veered into the path of a few like-minded friends, which resulted in the formation of Sons of Korah sometime around 1994. We embarked on the marriage of contemporary acoustic music and ancient Hebrew scripture that until Rod’s hiatus from the band summoned several CDs and a sack full of touring. In the middle (muddle) of one of these tours Rod felt led into other projects to find some fresh creative energy and then out popped Barak. A re-entry with the band is on the cards for 07 to add some colour to the existing line-up and represent some of his Barak material with the band… stay tuned. Read more on Last.fm.
