Daughter of the well known 60’s folk group The Carolee Singers, Adrianna’s musical road education began at an early age; travelling as a small child up and down the eastern seaboard with her musical parents. When not on the road, her house was filled with the sounds of vinyl; everything from Ellington and Basie to Bob Dylan and Muddy Waters. Her career in the “family” business began at 10 years old, performing in summer stock theaters throughout New England. She continued to study both music and acting which led her as teen-ager to the stages of New York’s off-Broadway. She had her mother’s Gypsy spirit and couldn’t grow-up fast enough to start living her life the way she wanted to.” With nothing but her guitar and desire to experience the world that had been calling her all her life, she left for California at 17.
It was those early musical influences that lead her to California where her eclectic, folk, jazz and blues infused vocal styling’s were able to take root. In 2014, Adrianna made her ‘official” blues debut with her project, “Double Crossing Blues.” Needless to say, it was well received and nominated in the “Best New Artist Debut” Category by both The Blues Foundation for a Blues Music Award and Blues Blast Magazine for their annual award. The Band has been touring ever since gracing many a festival stage, both domestically and abroad.
2017 brings Adrianna Marie back with an absolute STAR-STUDDED cast of musical talent with “Kingdom Of Swing”, out on The Vizztone Label, produced by Duke Robillard. The band, a virtual Roomful of Blues reunion plus guests, is a romping, swinging and crafty album of originals and a few re-imagined covers that feature Adrianna singing every bit as sultry, sassy and smart as the vintage songstresses she adores so much, They arrive in a variety of grooves, with subjects ranging from romance and fun(naturally) to reflections on the music itself, including the tribute “Gimmie A Roomful,” and “Kingdom Of Swing,” a minor key number that name checks Ellington and Basie.
The band consists of left-handed guitarist LA Jones (Pine Top Perkins, Otis Rush, Jimmy Rogers and Joe Houston,) Brian Fahey(The Palladins,) Kedar Roy(Kim Wilson, Junior Watson) and Roomful Alumni, Duke Robillard, Al Copley, Doug “Mr. Low” James, Rich Lataille, current Roomful members: Doug Woolverton, Mark Early and Carl Q along with special guests Junior Watson and Bob Corritore. Recorded at Sonalyst Powerstation, one of the best studios for capturing the “big band” sound and located deep in the heart of “Roomful” territory, engineer, Jack Gauthier was able to capture the BIG sounds of this magical ensemble’s interpretation of crafty and explosive jump blues and swing and smoky and swanky numbers like “Blues Are Brewin.” Al Copley provides crucial drive and color as he weaves through the music; the horns define the songs with memorable head arrangements, sublime solos and driving riffs. All that is in keeping with The Roomful tradition. Guest Junior Watson injects his unique personality to “Jump With Ya Baby,” while Bob Corritore cleverly re-imagines “Drive Me Daddy” into an elemental Muddy Waters type tune.
AND if you thought this is just an All-Star session act, Well hold on to your hats because this ensemble will be bringing their show to festival fans across the country and abroad and no doubt will be a high octane jump blues and swing crowd favorite and will surely to please both Groovecutter and Roomful fans alike. There is no doubt that Adrianna Marie is the new queen of the realm.
