The Ergastiri Psaltikis [erγas`tiri psalti`k^is]
"Ergastiri Psaltikis" (the Psaltic Workshop) was founded in Athens in 1998.Although its members come from various and diverse occupations (students, professionals, businessmen, employees, and professors), they all share the same passion: their love for group study and the development of the wealth of Byzantine Music and Psaltic Art. They all serve the Church through the Psaltic Art,which is a living and on-going tradition and simultaneously an integral part of intelligible worship of the Orthodox Church in which they are part of.Every single member of the Byzantine choir "Ergastiri Psaltikis" is an initiate of this high art and at the same time a preserver of their musical tradition. They are conscientious in preserving this tradition which has been passed on to them by previous generations. The quality of their work proves that they truly are the next generation of artists of our times.

"Ergastiri Psaltikis" has performed in concerts in Athens, Piraeus, and other cities of Greece and has participated at music festivals and gatherings of Greek and international choirs. In July 2002 it took part in the 8th International Competition if Sacred Music held in Preveza, Greece, and won first place in the Byzantine Choir category. In addition, it was handed the prize of distinction as the best Greek choir of the 8th International Competition of Sacred Music.

"Ergastiri Psaltikis" is a keeper of a psaltic tradition,
which has its origins in the Great Church of Constantinople (Istanbul), a heritage that its members cherish. This tradition prompted the establishing of this arrangement of group study and enrichment in the treasure of Byzantine Music, and its propagation to the public. In order to achieve these objectives, "Ergastiri Psaltikis" is exclusively involved with producing and hosting concerts in various cities of Greece and abroad. Read more on Last.fm.
