Coming from the idyllic lush green hills of upstate New York, where the only available diversions are driving cars, and Genesee Cream Ale, Lisa Hogan grew up listening to anything she could find on the radio, while being forced to attend the symphony every it came through town, which in fact was quite frequently. Through sheer parental force Hogan learned to play the piano. These two childhood events laid the foundation for a future in music. After earning the obligatory undergraduate degree in English at Cornell University, Hogan pursued the music business, racking up credits, awards, releasing records, and gigging as much as possible. In 2006 Hogan earned an MA in Music Composition from the Aaron Copland School of Music at the City University of New York Queens College, and is deeply grateful to her beleaguered parents for making her listen to the standard classical canon. She is an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York and composes very eclectic work from pop, art songs and jazz to acoustic new-romantic instrumental music.
