SonicMood is a Mac OS X application from creators Bit of Paradise that creates a soothing background of melodic tones when you don't want the distraction of ordinary canned music. The app creates its original ambient music in real time. The editor lets you customize the sound based on note, scale, and timing parameters that you can adjust, and comes with 32 pre-configured "Moods" to get you started. Each Mood is a blend of polyphonic stereo instrumentals with pleasing harmonies combined with sounds of nature. Moods have a relaxing effect, the gentle sounds lying just below your consciousness.

SonicMood also comes with 21 nature sounds (including rain, thunder, birds, ocean...) and now includes binaural beats, too. Binaural beats are said to influence the brain in subtle ways through the entrainment of brainwaves and can be used to induce relaxation, reduce anxiety, and provide other health benefits such as control over pain.
