The Bloomdaddies began in the summer of '93 as a trio playing a repertoire of mainly acoustic jazz arrangements and originals. The first members of the group, originally called "Murphy's Law", were Seamus Blake (Moose) [Image]on sax, Jessie Murphy (Murph/Mission Man) [Image]on acoustic bass, and Jordi Rossy (Heywhore/whore) [Image]on drums. After a tour of California, they returned to NYC and called upon Chris Cheek (Cheekus) [Image] to expand the sound of the band.

("We need Cheekus!")

One day, while shopping for some new microphones, Cheekus and Moose discovered an incredible new dimension of sound that changed their lives forever: FX (effects). Pitch shifters, delays, reverbs, flanger, and wah-wahs, typically associated with, could (and would) easily be used on the .

Suddenly, the tonal colors and harmonic possibilities for a quartet of 2 saxes, bass and drums seemed endless. They max-ed out their credit cards and hauled their new toys home to Brooklyn where they set up and jammed.

With sonic textures and influences changing rapidly, the sound of the band began to noticeably change. Many new moods and grooves and styles and vibes were mixing and matching. The evolution was underway.

In September '94, Whore invited the Bloomdaddies, to play in his hometown of Barcelona, Spain. There they played 4 intense nights to a freaked out enthusiastic Spanish crowd. At the end of each night, Whore could feel the pain throbbing in his hands. For most of his musical life, he had been a sensitive and delicate jazz drummer wowing people with his poly-rhythmic passion. He was hardly prepared for the new explosive sound of the Daddies. Looking back Whore recalls:

"The shit was so loud, man. I could barely keep up. "

Enter: Dan Reiser.

Q.What do you get when you add one really awesome drummer to a band that already has one genius behind the kit?
A.2 unbelievable badd-ass guys that can sound like one huge mega-badd-asss dude!

Suddenly, the daddies had one of the funkiest most rockin line-ups in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn (and believe-you-me der's some un**believable talent in this neighborhood!) One thing led to another and soon the Bloomdaddies were playing in small underground rock clubs in NYC. They have played and still play at ocassionally; CB's Gallery, The Kniting Factory, The Cooler, The New Music Café and Smalls.

On Feb 2,1997, which shall be known forevermore as D-day (Daddy day), the Blooms invaded Europe for the first time. It was the largest operation in Daddy history. An unprecedented number of dollars and hours were spent planning and organizing this one of a kind invasion. Over 50 trains were taken for 17 days in 6 countries! Many new Bloomsisters and Bloombros joined the campaign and since then the Daddy fever has been stronger than ever.

Where these renegade funk/rock/jazz/country warriors show up next is anyone's guess.
