4th and Long formed in the summer of 2002 when members Scott Blankenship wanted to enter the Battle of the Bands at the Meramec Community Fair. They called friends Justin Falloon, Travis Hood, and Billy Schatz and began practicing a few cover songs for the fair. Later that summer, after Justin left, Scott, Tyler, Travis, and Billy began recording the group's first album, "Hell Hath No Fury..." but in the middle of recording, Billy left the band, so the remaining three finished the album, which was released on December 14, 2002 at the Midwest Music Pit in Wentzville, MO.

In the following years, 4th and Long got significantly better and generally had a revolving-door spot for the fourth member. This fourth position included bassist Justin Perry, guitarist Pat Gibson, guitarist Brian Potter, and when in an extreme pinch, Danny Thacker. In the summer of 2004, the band's second album, "Long Nights and Fireworks", was released. The release was a pretty big deal for both the band and the town, as the boys were opening for REO Speedwagon at the Meramec Community Fair (with Brian Potter).

Late 2004 saw the slow demise of the band, as the core three (and Pat Gibson) began to grow apart and run out of time to play music. They played their last show on February 26, 2005 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Sullivan, Missouri. There are unconfirmed rumors that the boys have played a few songs without a PA or talent, and with a signifant amount of alcohol at parties in the Sullivan area.

4th And Long appeared at Indie Fest Sullivan at Arapaho Campground and Canoe Rentals on October 1st 2011 for their first official reunion show since February of 2005. For those who missed it, Meramec Productions LLC recently announced that 4th And Long will be appearing at Indie Fest Sullivan 2012 on August 11th.
