The Pale Gallery is an indie/post-punk band formed in 2005, by guitarist/vocalist Brent Larsen and drummer Jeff Massey. The band rose from the ashes of their previous band, The Motion, which had imploded after years of kicking around the Chicago scene, to little avail.

Initially a song-writing exercise between Larsen and Gabe Dorosz (formerly of Lo Magnifico and The Fast Collapse), The Pale Gallery eventually gained focus as an actual band with the addition of Jon Rosenfield, the third member of The Motion, on bass guitar. Shortly thereafter, Dorosz departed for the greener grass of NYC. Though now effectively "The Motion"--again, the new project remained steadfast to a new ethos revolving around the tight song-writing of Larsen, producing leaner, more focused compositions, in contrast to the rambling riff-orgies that comprised much of The Motion's output.

The Pale Gallery was cemented in the summer of 2007, when guitarist Brian Boes came on-board to fill in the space left by Dorosz. The band took it's show across the pond to England in May of 2008, playing at the Explosions in the Sky- curated All Tomorrows Parties festival.
