His music, characterized by the ever present undercurrent of the kalimbo, the finger piano, and variously, the marimba---the wooden xylophone--- is just one epitome for what westerners call ambient--only African style.

More lyrical---as in lyrics---might be just one differentiation you might make about Samite's music vis a vis that largely pure concept we think of when we think ambient.Traditional as well as current themes---geographical as well as universal ( love, learning, hunting for the right "place." ). Though there are songs in Samite's repetoire that make you get off the computer or the reading couch and make you wanna move.
