Mia Morgan (born 1994 in Kassel, Germany, real name Lisa-Marie Grosse) is a German indie pop singer-songwriter who grew up in Kassel.

She got her start in music at the age of 12, playing in her first band. She left school as a teenager because she was struggling with depression and anorexia. Instead, she started looking for a part-time job. Morgan used different art forms to cope with her illness. She also wrote prose, poetry, fan fiction and song lyrics, as well as blog posts about mental health, and started singing.

Even though she didn't finish school, she got a place at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and started studying visual communication with a focus on photography.

In 2018, she released her first song, Waveboy (Demo) . A number of well-known artists, including Kraftklub and Drangsal, played the song on their podcasts and supported her from the outset. At the Zurück nach Hause Festival, Mia Morgan performed as a support act for Casper. During this time, she also met Max Rieger, the singer of the band Die Nerven. They collaborated on her first EP, Gruftpop, released in 2019.

In 2020, she supported K.I.Z at one of their women's concerts. This was the first time Mia Morgan had put together a band. She said herself about working with a band: "It's really personal for me to have someone play my music. That's why I avoided performing with a band for so long – I didn't want to share it with anyone."

That same year, Mia Morgan and fellow musician Search Yiu launched the Mental Mall podcast for the Diffus music blog. The two chat about mental health with a range of guests, including Drangsal and El Hotzo.

Her first album, Fleisch, was released in 2022, three years after her first release. The album was actually meant to be released in 2021. However, due to overloaded pressing plants, the date was pushed back by a year. Mia Morgan commented on the delay: "It's about time we released the album now – it's really ready to go. It's like a kiwi that's past its best. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I've been carrying it around with me for so long – I'm really excited for the day it comes out! Once it's out there, I can finally say: Next album!" The album peaked at number 62 on the German album charts for one week.

The artist now lives in Berlin and has put her studies on hold to focus on her music career.

At the International Literature Festival Berlin 2022, Mia Morgan and Drangsal, who are now friends, gave some insights into their song lyrics in a joint discussion.

Morgan contributed vocals to the song Kein Gott, kein Staat, nur Du on Kraftklub's album Kargo, released in September 2022. She then went on to perform as the supporting act at a further six concerts on the subsequent tour.

In 2023, Mia Morgan made her debut as an author with the book 'Text und Musik' by Das Wetter, which included the short story 'Die Jungsfabrik'.

Since her first album, Mia Morgan has released a series of singles. Lukas Korn, who plays guitar with Lyschko and is in Morgan's live band, took over production from Max Rieger. In June 2023, she released Wiedergänger, which was one of her first SoundCloud demos in German and a fan favourite at concerts for years. Next came Mitten in den Massen, Gift and Niemand, which had a much heavier, rock-oriented sound than Morgan's previous songs.

She also worked with other artists on a few more songs, like Internetfreundin with Salò and Virtuell (feat. Mia Morgan) with Van Holzen. In Erste große Freiheit with Modular, the two talk about their own experiences with queer love among women. She also worked with MOA on Imposter/Popstar, who, like Morgan, is from Kassel and went to the same school as her for a while.

In November 2024, Mia Morgan announced her second album silber, once again produced by Lukas Korn from Lyschko. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
