Sufi master Rahmi Oruç Güvenç was born in Tavsanli, Kütahya in 1948, as the second son of Urkiye and Kamil Güvenç. Oruç was a world-renowned musician, music and movement therapist, ethnomusicologist, psychologist, sociologist, After a dream he had at the age of 12, he started his music career by taking violin lessons from his music teacher Fethi Bey during his secondary school years and learned oud, rebab, ney and tanbur during his university years. He founded the TÜMATA (Research and Promotion of Turkish Music) group in 1975 and throughout his life, he worked on music therapy, Turkish Music history and Sufism both in Turkey and abroad. He went on his journey to eternity due to a heart attack as a result of an operation he had on July 5, 2017, and left behind a very valuable legacy with his work for Turkish and human history.
