David Hopkins (born January 18, 1971) is an Irish singer-songwriter, originally from Dublin, Ireland, and currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. He is also the singer for the group Bombay Heavy and was the original keyboardist for Irish alternative rock group LiR.

His debut single, Amber and Green, taken from his album of the same name, Amber and Green, relaunched Hopkins to the Irish music scene after a break of ten years. From the age of fourteen, Hopkins was keyboard player, founder member, and main songwriter with Dublin prog-rockers LiR. Lir was a band noted for their great live shows, and though hotly tipped for international success Hopkins increasingly found writing and playing with the band creatively frustrating, and so while on tour in the States he decided to stay behind when the rest of the band returned to Ireland. Settling in San Francisco, he continued to do session work as a keyboard player with a number of bands, undertaking several nationwide tours, including opening for The Who on their Quadrophenia tour. But disillusioned with session work in the late ‘90s. Hopkins turned his back on the music scene for a while, only occasionally emerging to perform his own music.

Hopkins independently released his first solo album Here Comes The Bright Light in the States winning him loads of fans and, at a gig in San Francisco, Hopkins was spotted by the team behind The Killers. Having assembled a band in California, Hopkins continued to record new songs which were compiled into his album Amber and Green released in Ireland by indie label Reekus in August 2005.
